It is definitely a time consuming task but it has its own share of benefits. Having soft edges will add the aesthetic look and feel of the QR code, which is a plus.  Make it look friendly and not frightening.

Have A 3D Impact: The best way to brand your QR code is to use your logo. Upload a logo and it will be placed at the fore of the code and will invest it with glory of a different kind. An otherwise ordinary QR code can be made to look awesome with a piece of rare artwork if you can follow this trick. Adding a logo to the center of the QR code may add to the fun look, but you are free to try your creativity as long as the QR looks aesthetically pleasant.

Use Error Correction Methods: Branding of QR code can be done by stretching the obstructed section of QR code for maximum 30%. QR code with maximum missing 30% data can be processed and this is where the opportunity lies. You need to feature the brand image in the form of a logo in this section. QR code with 0% error can make the code look more streamlined but you will be missing out on the creative parts.
